Having an avid interest in WW2 era and of course guns I always dreamed of owning a Thompson and a MP 40. Depending on where you live getting your hands on a real steel version may not be possible. The next best thing would be a 1:1 model or replica that's where airsoft guns come into play. The Thompson model is available through two companies that I am aware of . Tokyo Marui is the original company then there is the clone made by CYMA.

First off this model is a convincing replica of the Thompson machine gun. It is constructed of a combination of metal and abs plastic. The metal parts include the upper receiver, barrel assembly, front and rear sights, cocking handle and ejection port, trigger, sling swivel mounts and magazine. The lower receiver and fake wood parts are abs plastic.
This gun is a real joy to hold. It has a nice weight to it and it feels really solid. The fake wood stock and grip are convincing enough even at close range. I may one day upgrade and put a real wood kit on it just to put it over the edge.
I've only gamed with it once and was fairly happy with its performance. It's accuracy is pretty decent (keep in mind its an airsoft gun ). The rear sight is adjustable. Shooting a pop can at 30' was easily attainable. I did find the rate of fire a little sluggish however. I use a large 8.4v battery which fits into the stock, though a little snug. It came with a small 8.4v pack which I did not use as I heard the rof would suffer even more. That said however its velocity was pretty nice compared to other stock airsoft makers such as Tokyo Marui, and Classic Army. I was getting nice numbers averaging 371.3 fps using .20gm bbs.
The gun has some nice details though the markings are stenciled on rather than engraved. I have mixed feelings about them. I know that you can get this gun with or without the markings. The worst is the MADE IN CHINA stencil right below where it says Worchester Massachusette, USA. Not a biggie though as I painted it out.
It comes with a cheap od sling which Id like to replace with at least a replica WW2 sling. But for now it will do.
If you are a ww2 collector this gun will not disappoint. With a few changes this can be a real addition to any gun collection.
Now my rant:
I realize that there are countries where airsoft is illegal. Considering that airsoft originated in Japan due to the fact that they banned real guns . Airsoft then was created for the collector the gun enthusiast etc. Why any country would ban airsoft is beyond me. Yes they can be mistaken for real weapons. But they arent. If treated and handled responsibly they pose no threat of life. They are toys for pete's sake. Airsofting is a sport, a hobby. As far as Im concerned airsoft should be legal anywhere. As long as you have reached an age of responsiblilty (19) and use them at designated events etc. airsoft is a great way to enjoy guns. Naturally if you have no common sense and decide to use them irresponsibly then whatever consequences you bring onto yourself is your liablilty.
